Jason Jamieson

Jason Jamieson is a seasoned swim instructor. Born and raised in Cape Town South Africa, Jason began swimming at the age of six. He was the Captain of the State team in high school and specialized in sprint freestyle events. He was also a national finalist in the breaststroke and freestyle events. Jason swam at a competitive level for 20 years, a career which brought him to America. He attended Gannon University in Erie, PA where he was a scholarship and 4 year NCAA athlete. While he was a competitor in the sport he picked up the passion for coaching. After earning a degree in Finance, Jason continued to pursue his passion for aquatics by teaching swimming in Chicago for several years. Seeing the need for tailored instruction led him to start Lakeside Swim School. Jason is an ASCA certified coach and a certified lifeguard and CPR/AED administrator. He is also Total Immersion Certified, which is a world-renowned swim method focusing on a progression of techniques and drills. These easy to follow methods make it possible for swimmers at any level to not only learn how to swim, but improve one's form, endurance, and overall skill. Jason's current students range in level from children to adults and first-time swimmers to accomplished triathletes.

He enjoys open water swimming as well as training on masters swim teams. Some of his favorite open water races include Big Shoulders and the Great Lakes Plunge.
